Magazine front page analysis one :
Preliminary:

This title on this magazine is similar to the layout that I am trying to achieve. In my magazine the heading will be big and bold and placed at the top of the page. This is useful so that it immediately grabs the readers attention.

The letters are in capslock and the font is in serif style which adds interest to the words. I like the way the "O" and the "U" are placed behind the image which contrasts the image with the text effectively.

The image is a long shot which establishes the location whilst showing the students. Although this is interesting, I will not use this shot type because the brief states it should be a medium close up shot. However, I like the placement of the image as the building and the people are composed in the centre of the page, with the text around the sides of the page.

Also, the text on the front cover is important as it allows the readers to know what is in the rest of the magazine. Therefore, if it is a school magazine the content should be relevant to education rather then music or fashion. For example, on this magazine front cover, one sub - heading is "Inspiring schools" which immediately suggests that the school is achieving and the magazine gives information on educational success. This is vital when reaching out to the target audience, to promote to a mass audience.

The colour scheme is effective as red and white seems consistent from the title to the sub headings indicating its significance with white text also used for other imformation that will be featured inside the rest of the magazine. There is also a contrast of bold and non - bold text. This house style makes the overall front cover seem organised and tidy.
