This magazine seems to be more serious than the other school magazine examples because of the layout anf the fact there is onlytwo colours used. The purple and the white work well together, as the white writing matches colours used within the image and the purple is vibrant and eye catching.
There is a lot of empty space on this front cover, but personally I think it works well with the layout of the page and the composition of the image at the centre of the page. It is clear that the title takes up one third, the image takes up another third and the information takes up the last third of the page.
Interestingly, the title is in small letters and the font is sans - serif. I think the layout of the font is effective as there is a smaller heading below the title, which suggests its importance as well as the date being at the top. This is most likely the first items on the cover that the readers will be drawn to.
There is a logo on this front cover, prehaps the represant the school in which this magazine is issued for. Logos, shapes and symbols are useful on front covers because they hook the reader's attention across the page and look aesthically pleasing as opposed to a plain background with no special features.
