
Target audience:
Pop is short for "popular" and is a very mainstream genre and first originated in the Western world during the 1950s and 1960s, deriving from rock and roll. The sub genres of pop: PowerPop, Dance - Pop, Soundtrack and SynthPop.
My Target audience is for the Pop genre. A target audience is a specific group of people that something such a product is aimed at. The Pop genre is popular to a mass demographic but its focused target audience is from ages 16 to 21. The pop genre is aimed at both males and females, but the music generally relates to the female audience because music groups such as JLS and One Direction usually sing love songs that are popular for girls whilst other music groups such as Little Mix and The Saturdays appeal more to the female demographic.


Social Demographic - More likely to be aimed at working class teenagers. This is important because the Pop music genre is targeted at teenagers which means they are not going to be in full time employment.
Hobbies - For this target demographic hobbies such as social activities will play a major role in their day to day life. Most young people enjoy going out with their friends or spending their free time on social media. This allows them to stay connected to their friends whilst being up to date with the current trends and the latest updates on the outside world.




This music genre appeals to those who listen to the radio on channels such as Capital and Radio one who play many of the current songs that this target audience would listen to. Their basic music knowledge stems from listening to the charts such as UK Top 40 and listening to the music of their favourite pop artists and particulaly music that is currently trending.



The music itself is quite fast and catchy with themes relevant to the younger target audience which makes it relatable to them and their own lives. The Pop music videos usually incoporate many ideas that the target audience value, for instance fashion and trends. So the artists in the Music video are dressed fashionably which markets both them and the song as the audience would see this style as popular and will become more engrossed in the icon and their products.

What is Rnb music:
RnB is abrievated from "Rhythm and Blues" and is a popular African - American music genre which came about in the 1940s. In the Mid 1950s the term "RnB" became used to refer to music styles that incorporated electric blues as well as gospel and soul music. In the 1980s RnB developed and became known as "contemporary Rnb" which combines elements of Rhythm and Blues, Soul, Funk, Pop, Hip hop and Dance.

For my target audience research I interviewed some people who enjoy listening to Pop music and therefore would be useful for identifying the expectations of my target demographic.
UK Tribes:
Living for the moment, Aspirant Tribes know the look, music and lifestyle they want – and will spend big in order to get it! Attuned to what’s happening in Leading Edge circles, it’s about keeping up with what’s cool but without all the hard work of creating it themselves. These Tribes will be found in Student Unions across the UK, from UE to Loughborough.
Social butterflies, they are spending summer holidays hitting the festival circuit – from Bestival and Secret Garden Party in the UK to Croatia’s Outlook and Serbia’s Exit festival. Whether it’s the latest pop-up, food truck, concept store, art gallery or nightclub, they want to be the one to have seen it first – and post it on social media. Experience seeking drives the Aspirant segment, and introducing the newest fashion and music to their friendship group motivates Tribe members.
From the ubiquitous gap year alpaca jumper, to the MacBook Pro, Ugg boots and Hershel backpack, Aspirant Tribes are big consumers with strong brand affiliations. Brands trying to crack the Aspirants need to work hard to prove their cool credentials. They need to be in the right place, at the right time, with the right people – although appealing to them may be challenging, those who do are rewarded with surprising brand loyalty.
Trendies
Trendies are driven by beautiful things and beautiful people, Trendies love fashion and are always looking for the next big trend!
They’re the biggest outwardly ‘brand-me’ Tribe – they’re universally aspirational in fashion and music, both offline and online.The rise of Mainstream Brand Me behaviours and fast fashion means the Trendies are still going strong and are one of the biggest Tribes on the map in 2015. Their influence is if anything growing, as more and more Trendies lean towards vlogging and sharing their super-soft-focus, Instagrammable lives online – inspiring younger teens to live a perfect life.
